Dem sweep in November?

Political analyst Charlie Cook thinks the Democrats will win a majority in the U.S. House in November, and maybe take control of the U.S. Senate, too.

"Time is running out for Republicans. Unless something dramatic happens before Election Day, Democrats will take control of the House. And the chances that they’ll seize the Senate are rising toward 50-50.

"The electoral hurricane bearing down on the GOP looks likely to be a Category 4 or 5, strong enough to destroy at least one of the party’s majorities. The political climate feels much as it did before previous elections that produced sizable upheavals, such as in 1994, when Democrats lost 52 House seats, eight Senate seats, and control of both chambers."

I'm just a singin' to myself, "Happy Days are Here Again...."

How many more days before the election??

"...Unless something dramatic happens before Election Day..."

That's it right there. Too much money is at stake for the Republicans to sit back and take the beating they so richly deserve. They'll play the domestic terrorism card to the max, as that's all they have at this point. If a rash of pre-election "alerts" don't do the trick, don't put it past them to take it one step further. They've finally tapped out all the ignorance and greed out there, so it's fear factor to the finish. Boo!

Have you noticed all the "Armageddon" talk on TV and radio? Evangelical Christians are plumb giddy about it, and now, they have at their disposal a President of the United States - somebody in a unique position to make it happen for them. He's trying. Gotta pay those folks back for giving him a shot at becoming the greatest, and last, President. Bush wants to go down in history as the President fighting evil at the end of times - too stupid to realize that there won't be anybody around to read the history. Nah. I don't think we'll get it back. I think they'll sit up on some hillside, waiting for the Rapturemobile, while we all get blown to Hell, before they hand over the reigns. This is their last best chance. Surely they won't blow it.

Clay,

My first reaction. But, if we have another terror attack, with the resources we've expended, our border still as porus as a screen door in a submarine, a terroist attack may be the WORST thing that could happen to the Red Army.

Maybe they'll decide to fly in, declare Victory in Iraq - they've done it before - after all they've brought Democracy (snark, snark) to Iraq. I can see the banner now - Mission Accomplished part 2.

There is just so much crap sitting on the canyon's edge for Bush. The economy - a recession, with the gas prices and national debt is a forgone conclusion - just when?

Israel, Syria, Lebanon, Iran - Can't and won't end good for at least 2 of these players - which means continued terroist attacks and possible civil war - and we haven't got a "real" diplomat on our pathetic team that could do anything but what they are doing now - hoping to God that the Middle East isn't gonna blow up in their imcompetent faces.

Iraq - "say to course" - the NeoCon's mantra - means pepetual occupation. America is 48% solidy against Bush's folly and that number is dropping like a rock.

Don't know, do know that evil abounds and the thought of giving up money and power is going to make these powerful Red's dangerous. And as scary as this might sound, it has some real historical value to it - don't be suprised that in the bowels of places where deals are and have been made, re: energy, oil, no bid contracts, big pharma...adnausem - that these "people" wouldn't sacrafice one of their own - I know, tin foil hat. But, historically, when something like that happens our great country rallies around the grieving party. I shutter even to say it or think it, but the absolute obession for money and power are 2 of the greater evils that the single bit of the apple has brought us.

When it doesn't happen, they'll quickly forget all their talk.

Maybe some of them will get so taken by it all that they'll move to the middle east to be first in line for the festivities.

Just moving to S. Carolina would get them pretty close. I'd chip in some on moving expenses.

My bet is on the Cheney/Rummy team to launch a major attack against Iran sometime late September. They're already firing up the "troops" on FOX news continuously. People I know who watch that network would right now support a major bombing attack...sigh...

The Cheney/Bush White House would blow-up Tulsa (under the guise of a terrorist attack) if they thought it would help them in the elections.

So, who is going to be the lamb? Or, should I say: Who gets to cavort with the umpteen virgins, gobs of gold, etc., etc. Condi? The Dick with the weak heart? W (the coup is complete)? Or will it be a mass of unsuspecting civilians again? Maybe there is even a sophisticated plot this time to simply steal votes rather than the blatant previous ones. Think the stakes are high? Whatever you think, it's not high enough.

I just shake my head....I've been shaking it so much lately I'm constantly dizzy. What fools these mortals be!

Anyone sitting around waiting for the Rapture or Armageddon must be living the most miserable of lives. Cheering for the melt down of the earth.....could you be more nuts? Why oh why didn't the Bible writers write in a chapter that says it's OK to blow your miserable head off and meet Jesus early if you want to. I'd buy a poppy for my lapel every day if I thought it would cause the Rapture to happen sooner. I want these nuts off my planet.

The TV preachers are beating this Rapture and Armageddon horse as hard as they can because it somehow means more love offerings for them. Now let me get this straight....the world is coming to an end...why would TV preachers need more money? Where are they going to spend it? Is there a Prada in heaven?

My advice to all religious nuts....send all your money to Hagee and start starving and you'll see Jesus real soon. Please....do it now...don't wait....avoid that Rapture rush.

I also think we need to let Son of Sam out of prison. Now we know he's not crazy, he's just a Republican Rapture kinda guy. The neighbor's dog goofed up telling him to kill. He was supposed to be barking Rapture instructions to poor David....never trust a dog with vital information....I tell ya.

Rapture up! I want to use your pool while you're gone.

Yes I've noticed all the religious nuts panting over the Middle East crap like vultures on a bone. They recently had some big shindig in DC to rally support (big money) for Israel. I'm so angry at what this gang has done to the country/world in the name of God I want to puke (on em) every time I see their puffed-up selves.

And, evidently Israel is a whore that'll bed the devil to further its cause because the Israel Ambassador was right in their midst trying to rationalize away the reality that Evangelicals believe Jews killed their Messiah and are currently hell bound.

Bush, of course, denies that his Middle East policies (hahaha) have anything to do with his Bible-thumping ways...another haha.

I'll admit I've reached a point where I don't have a 'rational' thought left regarding Bush and his religious zealots. And, I don't believe Israel should be given carte blanche because their God said they're special.

Oh yeah...you betcha Rove/Cheney have some dirty tricks still left up their nasty sleeves. As to whether they'll work...I don't have a clue. Hell, I never in my wildest imaginings thought we'd be saddled with monkeyboy for two terms.

But then again they stole two elections so why not steal a few more.

Zakkly, DBI.
My suggestion, since they can't get into Heaven if they commit suicide: They can sell all their expensive houses and SUV's and all that other shit and buy a loaded pistol just before giving all the proceeds to poor people; stand in a gigantic circle, each pointing their pistol to the evangelical on their immediate right; count to three; pull the triggers. Viola! The end has occurred. They can all go play with Jesus, and leave those of us who don't subscribe to the idea that the end of times is a good thing here to amuse ourselves with all the toys they left behind. Everybody wins.

The Dems should have thought of someone better than Woody to run against Boozman in the 3rd.
That's a congressional seat ripe for the taking with the right person, but, nope, we get ... Woody.
Boozman is reportedly a very good golfer, but not a good congressman. With the anti-Republican sentiment and coupled with what little Boozman does for the 3rd, you get someone who could be beat.

There were plenty of folks thinking about that race. Unfortunately when it came push to shove, the poltical climate was still not favorable of a D in the 3rd. And those faded or lacked the courage to take on Boozeman.

Now that things are not looking good for just about every R in Congress, we got lots of nashing of the teeth.

Woody stepped up and I think he's going surpise a lot of folks. I heard him last week and he's got his legs solidly under him. I hope he takes Boozeman to task for be a Bush enabler every single day from now until Nov. 7th. No one deserves it more than the empty suit w/golf bag deserves it more.

I don't know Cook, but those are the kinds of irresponsible remarks made by somebody who doesn't give a s*** about the outcome and who is writing to see his words in print.

For those of us who deeply care and know this NEEDS to happen for the sake of the country, they are simply irresponsible words. Best case scenarios should never be uttered. Bite your tongue, Charlie Cook. We don't need your kiss of death.

It's a wrap. Take it to the bank. Republicans are toast here, and everywhere else.

I can't wait for Hillary to take over; it's going to be great.

Do you think she'll take some of us with her back to the WH?

Run, Hillary, Run.

I don't know Cook, but those are the kinds of irresponsible remarks .......

Look him up. Charley Cook knows his stuff.

Although the Republicans deserve it, they won't lose either the House or the Senate this time around. Every election year, we hear the same spin from the same media outlets. "The GOP is done! Democrats poised to seize control! Republicans reeling!" Every time, you guys buy it hook, line, and sinker. Just because journalists want to WILL this to happen, doesn't make it so.

With a solid 5 year history of misery, failure and death, if the Democrats aren't swept to power this November then America deserves to continue it's slide into the toilet.

Never ever before has a political party deserved to be destroyed as badly as the incompetent crooks we live under right now. Hopefully when they're gone we'll have another 225 years of smooth sailing before America sees the equal of Bush-Cheney and their minions again.

Side note to my Republican friends....continue to pretend to be a Bush huggers, but when you get in that voting booth in November think about your kids and vote Democrat. Your kids are going to suffer the same as mine and we just can't have that. Thanks in advance!

Didn't he say four years ago that Jimmie Lou Fisher would be elected governor by a landslide?

Didn't he say four years ago that Jimmie Lou Fisher would be elected governor by a landslide?

Cleburne County Democrats:

While in Heber Springs today I saw Asa and Gunner DeLay signs. Did not see any Democratic signs.

Better get those Beebe and McDaniel signs out in Heber.

Double Amen, DBI. This bunch of crooks, liars, and thieves has done far more harm than any terrorist organization could have hoped for.

Cook DOES know his stuff -- from his mouth to God's ears.

Please God let the story turn out true! Or at least get one wing of Congress into Democrat Control!

Ever since "Gore has taken Florida!" and "Kerry is poised to win 2 days before the election!" I get very nervous when I hear people saying good things about the Dems' chances. I hope it's true, but I've had my heart broken before...
