Milk Director Talks Prop 8 and Rick Warren
Gus Van Sant didn't know he was sitting on a political firestorm when he made Milk.
The director says that California's anti-gay-marriage ballot initiative, Prop 8, wasn't even a blip on the radar during the making of the Harvey Milk biopic. The movie, starring Sean Penn, features the 1970s fight against California's Prop 6, which unsuccessfully tried to ban gay teachers in public schools.
Anne Hathaway Is a Golden Globes Winner...Maybe
Angelina Jolie may want to keep practicing her sore-loser death stare for Sunday's Golden Globes.
The official Golden Globes website may have accidentally revealed yesterday that Anne Hathaway will take home the statuette for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama. There was a star published next to the Rachel Getting Married nominee's name, which indicates the winner.
Mad Men's January: Jon's a "Good Crush to Have"
If you’re jealous of Mad Men’s January Jones because she gets to lock lips with hottie Jon Hamm on a regular basis, don’t be!
“It’s not like real romantic or anything,” Jones insisted to us yesterday at during a luncheon celebrating her Golden Globes nomination at Los Angeles event space Zune LA. “If anything, we just kinda laugh it off...Those things are always odd to shoot, you know? There’s 40 people watching you. It’s very technical and choreographed.”
But even though Jones isn’t totally diggin’ those bump-and-grind scenes with her costar, she's not exactly complaining about her hunky make-believe hubby…
Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie: Critics' Must-See Couple?
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie didn't win any prizes tonight, but they were the center of the universe inside the Critics' Choice Awards.
Just like last year, every time there was a commercial break, it seemed like everyone stood up to gawk at Hollywood's shiniest golden couple.
Of course, they weren't left alone for even a nanosecond.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie: No Secret Wedding!
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have not tied the knot.
Speculation about secret nuptials started Tuesday when Taraji P. Henson, who stars as Queenie opposite Pitt in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, referred to her costar as Jolie's "husband" during an interview at the Palm Springs International Film Festival.
But Henson tells me we shouldn't look too deeply into the husband remark because...
Ellen DeGeneres Pinch-Hits for Kate Hudson
Why was Kate Hudson late to last night's People's Choice Awards?
Blame her son, Ryder.
But it was all for a good reason. Kate was throwing the little guy a birthday party. He turned 5 yesterday. Which meant Hudson didn't get in her car until about 15 minutes before she was supposed to present the first award way across town at the Shrine Auditorium, says a source.
Hudson's rep tells me that she was actually in NYC yesterday morning doing Bride Wars press and jetted back to the West Coast for Ryder's bash.
So Ellen DeGeneres ended up filling in at the last minute, explaining to the audience that Hudson was stuck in traffic. Later on, Hudson dedicated her Favorite Leading Lady award to—who else?—Ryder.
At least Hudson made it—eventually. Who was a complete no-show last night?
Sightings: Brad Pitt Hops On His Hog
BUTTONED UP: Brad Pitt, zooming around L.A. yesterday on his motorcycle. Where was Angelina Jolie? A source says she was flying into town this morning for tonight's Critics' Choice Awards.
THIRST QUENCHERS: Leonardo DiCaprio, enjoying a glass of Provenance cabernet sauvignon at the opening-night gala of the Palms Springs International Film Festival while Sean Penn, Dustin Hoffman and Clint Eastwood drank Cîroc cocktails.
SHADY BUSINESS: Nicole Richie, picking out pinkish-red Anglo American vintage sunglasses from City of Angels Eyewear Co. in L.A. Baby daddy Joel Madden paid for them.
What funnyman did we catch with his drawers down? OK, maybe not. But we did spot him picking up some new skivvies...
Rob Pattinson and a Bevy of Beautiful Vampires
Robert Pattinson will be back, and so will Kristen Stewart.
And we're happy to report that it was just announced this afternoon that Taylor Lautner will be coming back, too.
We're talking, of course, about New Moon, the OMG-cannot-wait-for-it sequel to Twilight. And we just got some fresh info on the new blood that director Chris Weitz is on the prowl for...
Nicollette Sheridan & David Spade: Just Friends!

So what gives?

Anne Hathaway's Hot Desert Night With New Man
Anne Hathaway is a getting a little more serious with her new man, actor Adam Shulman.
At least enough to bring him to an awards show.
The Golden Globe nominee’s blond beau was at last night’s opening gala of the Palm Springs International Film Festival, where Hathaway picked up the Desert Palm Achievement Award for Rachel Getting Married.
The PDA was kept to a minimum—Shulman waited inside the Palm Springs Convention Center ballroom while Hathaway did red carpet arrival press—but...

Tom & Katie Are Not NYC's Next Real Estate Moguls
Are Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes trying to give Donald Trump a run for his New York City real estate money?
If a new report is to be believed, Cruise and Holmes have bought not one, not two, but three more lofts in the building where the Valkyrie star has owned an apartment since first hitting it big in the '80s with Risky Business.
Estimated price for the new purchases? A whopping $14.4 million.
But don't call in the decorators just yet...

Brad Pitt to Present at People's Choice?
Brad Pitt could be a surprise guest at tomorrow night's People’s Choice Awards.
It's not a very prestigious awards show, but I hear the Curious Case of Benjamin Button star is mulling over a possible appearance during CBS' live telecast.
If it does happen, however, don’t look for him onstage at L.A.’s Shrine Auditorium...
